in nonviolent acts; AJC 03/28/06
The jailing of children under 16 for skipping
school, running away or violating curfew would be forbidden under a
bill the Georgia Legislature is poised to pass. . Senate Bill 136 also
would ensure better access to bail for children.. "Nonviolent
children with minimum offenses ... don't need to be locked up with
people who are selling crack, stabbing or raping people," said

Allen Bunch is an insurance agent who feels as
if he's in the insurance Twilight Zone. . "I can sell you a
health insurance policy," he says, "but I can't buy one
myself.". Bunch can't get coverage because of multiple medical
conditions: diabetes, a kidney disorder and a heart attack two years
ago.

Parks Yeomans considers himself a healthy
50-year-old. Doesn't smoke, isn't overweight, rarely is sick. . He
wants to buy health insurance. He's even willing to pay extra for it..
But Yeomans, a cabinetmaker and woodworker who lives in Ball Ground,
recently has been rejected by three health insurance companies. The
reason: He has a blood disorder that was discovered three years ago --
something he said has never affected his health
